Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Facts

  1. The Carolina Hurricanes were originally established as the Hartford Whalers in 1972. The team relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1997 and became the Carolina Hurricanes.
  2. The Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup once in their history, during the 2005-2006 season. They defeated the Edmonton Oilers in seven games to capture the championship.
  3. The team’s colors are red, black, and white. Their logo features a swirling hurricane warning flag.
  4. Rod Brind’Amour, a former Hurricanes player, became the team’s head coach in 2018. Under his leadership, the Hurricanes have made the playoffs and have become known for their fast-paced and exciting style of play.
  5. The Hurricanes’ home arena is the PNC Arena, located in Raleigh. It has a seating capacity of approximately 18,000 for hockey games.
