  2. The team’s name, “Sabres,” was chosen through a fan contest. It was selected to represent the powerful and swift nature of a sabre, which is a type of sword.
  3. The Sabres have made two appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals. They reached the finals in 1974-1975 and 1998-1999 but were unable to capture the championship on both occasions.
  4. The team’s colors are navy blue, gold, and white. Their logo features a charging buffalo head.
  5. Gilbert Perreault, a Hockey Hall of Famer, spent his entire NHL career with the Sabres from 1970 to 1987. He is considered one of the greatest players in franchise history and holds many team records.
