- The Pittsburgh Penguins joined the NHL as an expansion team in 1967. They were one of six teams added to the league that year to double its size.
- The Penguins have won the Stanley Cup five times in their history. They captured championships in the 1990-1991, 1991-1992, 2008-2009, 2015-2016, and 2016-2017 seasons.
- The team’s colors are black, gold, and white. Their logo features a skating penguin with a scarf and a hockey stick.
- Mario Lemieux, one of the greatest players in NHL history, played for the Penguins from 1984 to 2006. Lemieux was known for his exceptional skill and led the team to two Stanley Cup championships as a player and later became the team’s owner.
- The Penguins’ home arena is the PPG Paints Arena, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It has a seating capacity of approximately 18,000 for hockey games.
