Anaheim Ducks Hockey Facts

  1. The Anaheim Ducks were founded in 1993 as an expansion team and played their first NHL season in 1993-1994.
  2. The Ducks won their first and only Stanley Cup championship in the 2006-2007 season. They defeated the Ottawa Senators in five games to claim the title.
  3. The team’s original name was the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, inspired by the Disney movie franchise “The Mighty Ducks.” The franchise was owned by the Walt Disney Company until 2005.
  4. The Ducks’ official team colors are orange, black, gold, and silver. The team’s logo features a stylized duck mask.
  5. The Ducks have had several notable players throughout their history, including Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, Ryan Getzlaf, and Corey Perry. Selanne, known as the “Finnish Flash,” is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.
  6. The Honda Center in Anaheim serves as the home arena for the Ducks. It has a seating capacity of approximately 17,200 for hockey games.
  7. The Ducks have reached the Stanley Cup Finals twice in their history. In addition to their championship win in 2007, they also reached the finals in the 2002-2003 season but lost to the New Jersey Devils in seven games.
  8. Randy Carlyle, a former NHL player, served as the head coach of the Ducks during their Stanley Cup-winning season in 2007. He was also the head coach when the team reached the finals in 2003.
  9. The Ducks’ mascot is named Wild Wing. Wild Wing is a duck character wearing the team’s jersey and a goalie mask.
  10. The Ducks have had several jersey and logo changes throughout their history. They introduced a new logo and jersey design in the 2019-2020 season, featuring a simplified and modernized version of the classic “D-foot” logo.
