  1. The Calgary Flames originated as the Atlanta Flames, an expansion team that joined the NHL in 1972. They relocated to Calgary, Alberta, in 1980.
  2. The Flames have won the Stanley Cup once in their history, during the 1988-1989 season. They defeated the Montreal Canadiens in six games to capture the championship.
  3. The team’s colors are red, yellow, and black. Their logo features a flaming “C” representing Calgary.
  4. Jarome Iginla, one of the greatest players in franchise history, played for the Flames from 1996 to 2013. He holds numerous team records, including most goals, assists, and points.
  5. The Flames’ home arena is the Scotiabank Saddledome, which is located in Calgary. It is known for its unique saddle-shaped roof and has a seating capacity of approximately 19,000 for hockey games.
  6. Harvey the Hound is the Flames’ mascot, known for his distinctive appearance with a large tongue and wagging tail. He has been entertaining fans since 1983 and was the first mascot in NHL history.
  7. In 1986, the Flames reached the Stanley Cup Finals but lost to the Montreal Canadiens in five games. However, they bounced back the following season to win the championship.
