San Jose Sharks Hockey Facts
- The San Jose Sharks joined the NHL as an expansion team in 1991. They played their first NHL season in 1991-1992.
- The Sharks have yet to win the Stanley Cup in their history. They have reached the Stanley Cup Finals once, in the 2015-2016 season, but were defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
- The team’s colors are teal, black, and white. Their logo features a fierce shark with a hockey stick.
- Patrick Marleau, one of the most beloved players in Sharks history, spent the majority of his career with the team from 1997 to 2017 and returned for the 2019-2020 season. Marleau holds several franchise records, including most goals and most points.
- The Sharks’ home arena is the SAP Center at San Jose, located in San Jose, California. It has a seating capacity of approximately 17,500 for hockey games.
- S.J. Sharkie, a shark character, is the Sharks’ mascot. S.J. Sharkie engages with fans during home games and community events, bringing energy and entertainment.
